Dr. Sarah Neuwirth is a full professor for computer science and head of the “High Performance Computing and its Applications” group at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz, Germany. Previously, she was the deputy lead of the “Modular Supercomputing and Quantum Computing” group at Goethe University Frankfurt, Germany. In 2018, Sarah completed her PhD in computer science at Heidelberg University, Germany. Her research interests include parallel file systems, modular supercomputing, performance engineering, networking, reproducible benchmarking, parallel I/O, and parallel programming models. For her outstanding contributions to high performance computing, Sarah was awarded the “2023 PRACE Ada Lovelace Award for HPC” and the “ZONTA Science Award 2019”. She has worked on numerous research collaborations including working with: the Jülich Supercomputing Centre (DEEP Project Series, EUPEX), the Oak Ridge National Laboratory, BITS Pilani, K K Birla Goa Campus, and Virginia Tech.
Dr. Ruth Partzsch is working at Jülich Supercomputing Centre, Forschungszentrum Jülich as leader of the research team “Advanced Time Integrators”. She is trained as a mathematical-technical software developer but studied and received her doctorate in Mathematics. In her research, she focuses on the development, implementation and application of parallel-in-time integration methods. In collaboration with the university of applied sciences, FH Aachen she holds mathematical lectures and is interested in promoting young talents. The topic of underrepresentation of women is particularly important to her. She strongly advocates equal opportunities and diversity.
